Sarasota County Man Sentenced for Child Pornography Possession

TALLAHASSEE, FL—Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced that a Sarasota County man was sentenced to 78 months in prison, which will be followed by three years of sex offender probation. Ronald Williams, 34, pleaded guilty to six counts of possession of child pornography and will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.Williams was arrested in June 2010 by the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit and the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Department with assistance from the Sarasota Police Department.

Williams' possession of child pornography was discovered when CyberCrime investigators located images of child pornography during a routine undercover investigation and traced the images back to his computer. Investigators discovered multiple images of child pornography when they executed a search warrant at his house.

Williams was prosecuted by attorneys with the State Attorney’s Office of the 12th Judicial Circuit. All agencies involved in the arrest are members of the Central Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
