Manatee Man in Custody After Sending Pornographic Images to Undercover Cybercrime Investigator

~ Second CyberCrime arrest of the day highlights importance of statewide CyberCrime Units ~

Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced that a Manatee County man has been taken into custody on the charge that he sent pornographic material to someone he thought was a minor. Michael Seagraves was arrested today by law enforcement officers with the Attorney General's CyberCrime Unit and the Bradenton Police Department with assistance from U.S Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. The arrest is the second made today by the CyberCrime Unit.

Seagraves, 47, engaged in a series of internet conversations with someone he believed was a 14-year old girl and sent pornographic images of himself to her, not realizing he was talking to an undercover investigator with the Attorney General's CyberCrime Unit in Milton. When the Milton investigators determined Seagraves was in Bradenton, the information was referred to the Attorney General’s Tampa CyberCrime Unit which executed a search warrant on Seagraves’ home. Investigators seized a computer, monitor and webcam from his residence, all of which will undergo forensic analysis to determine whether any additional victims can be identified.

Seagraves is currently charged with one count of transmission of materials harmful to minors. Additional charges could be added at a later date. He was booked into the Manatee County Jail. The Tampa CyberCrime Unit and the assisting law enforcement agencies are all members of the Attorney General's Office Tampa CyberCrime Task Force and the Central Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
