Sarasota County Man Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced a Sarasota County man is in custody and will be charged with possession of child pornography. Ronald Earl Williams, 34, was arrested by law enforcement with the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit and the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office after investigators discovered Williams had multiple images of child pornography in his possession. The Sarasota Police Department assisted in the arrest.

CyberCrime investigators located images of child pornography during a routine investigation and traced the images back to Williams’ computer. A search warrant was executed at his Sarasota home where two laptops, two personal computers, two thumb drives and an external hard drive were seized to undergo forensic analysis. An initial review of his computer revealed multiple images of child pornography, including some images of children as young as infants.

Williams will be booked into the Sarasota County Jail and will be charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography, a second-degree felony. The agencies involved in today’s arrest are members of the Attorney General’s Tampa CyberCrime Task Force as well as the Central Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
