Orange County Man Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced an Orange County man has been taken into custody and will be charged with possession of child pornography. Eric Helms, 28, was arrested by law enforcement with the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit after investigators discovered Helms had multiple images of child pornography in his possession.

CyberCrime investigators located images of child pornography during a routine investigation and traced the images back to Helms’ computer. A search warrant was executed at his Orlando home where a computer, a thumb drive and other computer peripherals were seized. The items removed from the home will undergo forensic analysis to identify any additional images of child pornography. An initial review of his computers revealed multiple images of child pornography, some of children as young as three years old.

Helms will be booked into the Orange County Jail and will be charged with seven counts of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony. The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Orlando Police Department assisted with the arrest.
